Rental Terms

All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance provisions, associated charges, and your obligations for the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.

Eligibility Criteria

Renting a vehicle requires:

• To hire a vehicle from Blyth, drivers must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for those under 25. A valid driving licence for the relevant vehicle category is required, along with proof of identity and current address. Valid payment details and a security deposit must be provided, in addition to any other prerequisites outlined in the Rental Agreement.

3. Reservations and Payments

• Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or at our Dartford office. To confirm your booking, a deposit may be necessary. The total payment and a security deposit are usually required upon vehicle collection. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through established payment providers.

4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off

• Upon collecting your vehicle from Blyth Car Hire, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties to document the vehicle's state. Please ensure the vehicle is returned in the same condition as it was collected, with allowances made for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charges will be applied accordingly. The vehicle must also be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling charges will be incurred if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in extra fees, so please inform us promptly if you anticipate any delays. You will be held responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges accrued during the rental period, along with a corresponding administration fee.

Insurance and Responsibility

• All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Details regarding coverage and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to lower your financial responsibility. It is important to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for damages or loss up to the excess amount unless covered by added insurance. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.

6. Modifications and Cancellations

Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.

Prohibited Activities

Prohibited Vehicle Uses

• The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. Activities such as racing, rallying, or off-roading are prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited. The vehicle should only be used as intended, and passengers must not exceed the specified limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval is not permitted.

Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.

8. Liability Restrictions

To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Blyth Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim will be capped at the amount paid for the rental in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to instances of negligence leading to death or personal injury, or to fraudulent activities.

9. Applicable Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in English and Welsh courts.

10. Updates to Terms

Blyth reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
