Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your obligations for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle from Blyth, drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary based on vehicle type, with potential extra charges for those under 25. A valid full driving license appropriate for the vehicle category is required, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Customers must present valid identification and proof of current address, along with valid payment information and a security deposit. Any additional requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle from Blyth Car Hire, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be created and signed for your records. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was picked up, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damages will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as received; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Be aware that late returns may incur extra fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if delays are anticipated. You will be held responsible for any parking tickets, traffic infractions, or associated charges accrued during your rental, along with a processing fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
- All rentals from Blyth include basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial risk. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damages or losses up to the excess amount, except where additional insurance applies. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or missed reservations may incur fees.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses of rental vehicle:
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any risky behaviors. Transporting dangerous substances is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. The vehicle must only be used for its intended purposes and within designated passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and charges.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Blyth Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
Updates to Terms
Blyth reserves the right to amend these Terms at any time. Updates take effect immediately upon publication on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
